Carmel Diagnostics Overview

Carmel Diagnostics has developed a method for measuring the oxidative stress (OS) of biological liquids, a recognized biomarker of health and disease and a key diagnostics parameter. This OS parameter is measured using thermochemiluminescence (TCL) technology. The company's lead product is focused on the process of embryo selection in in-vitro fertilization (IVF). The Fertissimo TCL Analyzer is a noninvasive embryo selection system for the IVF market, offering up to a 20% increase in successful IVF pregnancies. Effective embryo viability assessment significantly improves the success rate and reduces the risk of multiple births. Carmel Diagnostics has performed two successful proof-of-concept studies covered by peer-reviewed articles on the applications of risk stratification for patients with congestive heart failure and embryo selection in the IVF process, and is currently performing a clinical validation study for the IVF application. Carmel Diagnostics was awarded a Horizon 2020 phase-2 grant.

The power of oxidative stress in embryo selection in the IVF process

Carmel Diagnostics, a company that has developed a device to measure oxidative stress for various medical applications, is seeking to raise more funds to bring its product to market. The company, led by CEO Tzali Cnaani, has conducted successful studies on risk stratification of heart failure and embryo selection. It has received grants from the Israel Innovation Authority and pharmaceutical company Merck Serono. It also partnered with Spanish company IVI Valencia, one of the worlds largest IVF clinic networks, and received a major grant from European program Horizon 2020.

Carmel Diagnostics collaborates with Aran R&D to win a €2.7M grant from Europe's Horizon 2020 SME Instrument

Carmel Diagnostics has developed a non-invasive diagnostic tool that helps determine the competence of individual embryos prior to transfer in In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). The technology gives an accurate indication which allows separating healthy embryos from weak ones. ARAN R&D will provide Carmel Diagnostics comprehensive product design and development services. Horizon 2020 through a dedicated SME instrument found this technology to be of high-potential for innovation and granted Carmel with Aran as its R&D partner with some €2.7M to complete the development process and face the global market.
