Cyber unicorn Checkmarx hits the market with $2.5 billion price tag | CTech
Hellman & Friedman is planning to sell Checkmarx, an Israeli cybersecurity firm, for at least $2.5 billion. The American investment fund acquired Checkmarx in March 2020 for $1.2 billion. Since then, Checkmarxs revenues have doubled, although there was a slight decline in 2023. The company employs around 900 people globally and laid off 10% of its workforce in late 2022. Checkmarxs client base includes major companies like Dell, Adidas, Ford, Visa, Siemens, and Salesforce. The sale process is being led by Citibank Israel. The ongoing Gaza war adds complexity to the timing of the sale.

Meetup security failings left users vulnerable to money and data loss, says Checkmarx report
Cybersecurity company Checkmarx has discovered a series of security flaws in community-building events platform Meetup, which has over 44 million members. The vulnerabilities allowed attackers to inject malicious scripts into the groups discussion area, enabling them to gain unauthorized access to group functions. Meetup, which was acquired by WeWork in 2017, was found to be vulnerable to both XSS and CSRF attacks. Checkmarx reported the flaws to Meetup in December 2019, but it wasnt until March 2020 that Meetup confirmed they had made some fixes. Further tests by Checkmarx revealed not all vulnerabilities were covered, prompting additional fix suggestions.

The company specializes in Application Security Testing, with solutions designed to identify and fix security weaknesses in source code and to block security issues in web and mobile applications. Insight Partners will retain a substantial minority interest in Checkmarx.

US Navy chooses Israel's Checkmarx to bolster security
Israel-based software security provider Checkmarx has won a contract with the US Navy’s Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific. The contract will see more than 5,000 Navy developers and contractors using Checkmarx’s software composition analysis and static application security testing to identify and fix security vulnerabilities in their software-development process. The tools will be integrated into the Navy’s new Compile to Combat in 24 Hours (C2C24) program, which aims to reduce the time taken for federal software delivery from 18 to 24 months down to just 24 hours.

Israeli company Checkmarx, a provider of application security testing technology, has acquired UK-based Codebashing, a company specialising in application security education. The financial details of the deal were not disclosed. The acquisition will enable Checkmarx to offer continuous, bite-sized secure coding training, addressing specific challenges that traditional secure coding education does not.
