Elbit Systems Ltd., an Israeli defense electronics company, announced that Charlesbank Technology Opportunities Fund has invested $70 million in its subsidiary, Cyberbit Ltd. Charlesbank invested $22 million in Cyberbit and paid $48 million for some of Elbit Systems’ shares in Cyberbit, making Elbit Systems a minority shareholder in Cyberbit. The funding will be used to accelerate the development of Cyberbits cyber range product and to grow global sales and marketing. Cyberbit was founded in 2015 to provide commercial training systems for cybersecurity teams.

Cyberbit develops and markets cyber training and simulation platforms, as well as detection and response platforms for cyber threats. The company was reorganized in September 2017, separating its defense and cyber intelligence business from its commercial cyber business. In December 2017, a report linked a spyware developed by a company identified as Cyberbit to the Ethiopian governments cyber campaign. However, a spokeswoman for Elbit stated that the activity referred to in the report is not related to the current Cyberbit Ltd. company.

The Ram Compound will serve as headquarters for sensitive government ministries and will integrate physical and cybersecurity.
