DustPhotonics, a leading developer of silicon photonics technology, has announced the launch of the industrys first merchant silicon photonics engine for 1.6Tb/s DR8 applications, targeting AI and hyperscale data centers. The engine supports 8 channels, each capable of operating at up to 224G/channel. A second variant supports four channels for 800Gb/s DR4 applications. The products integrate on-board lasers and offer benefits such as low power dissipation and enhanced supply chain scalability. The products are available for sampling and will be released to production by the end of the year. DustPhotonics will showcase the engine at the ECOC trade show in Frankfurt, Germany, in September 2024.

The funding round was participated by new and existing investors including Sienna Venture Capital, Greenfield Partners, Atreides Management, and Exor Ventures. The funds will be used to scale the production of its Carmel-4 and Carmel-8 products. The companys platform offers improvements in bandwidth and speeds while reducing costs and power consumption.
