Israeli defense electronics company Elbit Systems Ltd. has been awarded a $70 million contract from a Latin American customer. The contract is for the supply of intelligence integrated systems for homeland security applications. Under the contract, Elbit Systems will provide the customer with Hermes 900 UAS systems and an intelligence gathering system within less than a year.

Elbit launches helmet-mounted pilot monitor
Elbit Systems Ltd. has launched a new safety device for aircraft pilots called Canary. The device is an integrated physiological monitoring device that provides real-time alerts in case of in-flight life-threatening situations. In extreme cases, such as hypoxia or loss of consciousness, a warning will appear, either as an audio-visual alert on the pilots Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) or via the aircrafts mission computer using the HMD interfaces. The alert will allow the pilot to react before losing consciousness or, in case the pilot is unable to operate the aircraft, facilitate recovery of the pilot and the aircraft by engaging the auto pilot.

Elbit to unveil helicopter night attack solution
Elbit Systems Ltd. is set to launch a range of innovative next-generation systems and capabilities at the upcoming 51st Paris Air Show. These include BrightNite, a solution that enables utility helicopters to perform Degraded Visual Environment (DVE) missions in more than 90% of the nights. Other new capabilities include Digital JHMCS, a lightweight head-mounted display provided by RCEVS, a joint venture with Rockwell Collins, and the Skylark I-LEX, a new generation of the legacy Skylark I-LE mini-UAS. The company will also launch an aircraft self-protection system, the Air Keeper EW & SIGINT Solution.
