Sig Sauer Inc. Acquires Israeli Robotics Expert General Robotics - Defense Update:
SIG SAUER has announced the acquisition of General Robotics, a manufacturer of lightweight, remote weapon stations and tactical robotics. The acquisition will enhance SIG SAUERs portfolio of advanced weapon systems. The U.S. Army has recently selected SIG SAUERs lightweight machine gun, automatic rifle, and high-pressure hybrid ammunition for the Next Generation Squad Weapons program. SIG SAUER and General Robotics demonstrated their combined system at industry events in January 2023. General Robotics provides lightweight remote weapon control systems for land vehicles, autonomous ground robots, and marine applications. The companys weapon systems are remotely controlled from a tablet and can be used as a countermeasure against drones.
