Orca AI: Israeli start-up's collision avoidance system provides clarity - Splash247
Orca AI, an Israeli start-up focusing on ship collision avoidance systems, believes that the shipping industry should be more open to new technology solutions to improve navigation safety. The CEO, Yarden Gross, has observed a slow adoption of new technologies in the industry due to shipowners hesitation to hand over control of their ships to automated systems. Gross highlights the shortcomings of current navigation systems onboard ships and emphasizes the importance of earning the trust of shipowners and crews. Orca AI is developing a collision avoidance system that targets low-visibility scenarios and crowded waterways, integrating with existing onboard systems to provide relevant information to the crew. The company secured $2.6 million in seed funding in January.
