What does Libertad Ventures do?
Libertad Ventures was founded by the Israel Security and Intelligence Service (Mossad), as its strategic investment arm. Itsfocus is on technological research and development enterprises. Libertad seeks to strengthen start-up companies as well as the Mossad's knowledge base, operating at the forefront of technological innovation. Libertad will finance R&D programs of entrepreneurs and selected companies. The financing is equity free. It puts no restrictions on the intellectual property (IP) and does not demand a repayment in royalties. At the end of each development project, the Mossad receives a non-commercial and non-exclusive license to use the developed IP, as stated in the contract. This means that, at the end of the funded development program, the IP will be available for the Mossad to use. The company that developed the IP remains the owner and can do with it as it sees fit. Libertad connects the technology of its portfolio companies to end-users, giving them access to authentic initial feedback and results from real clients. To date, the fund has invested successfully in a number of companies and has established extensive contacts in the ecosystem.
