What does Pilvet do?
Pilvet has developed an innovative solution to address the challenges of data center compute distribution, specifically targeting operational costs, power consumption, and environmental impact. The approach redirects key categories of compute jobs from traditional data centers to highly efficient distributed units using COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) hardware. In its initial industry proof-of-concept, Pilvet integrates these compute units within commercial vehicle fleets. These vehicles not only supply power with minimal impact on fuel consumption but also serve as the real estate for the units. This design significantly reduces the three central cost burdens of data centers: power, cooling, and real estate. A centralized system, situated in a partner data center, is responsible for dispatching computational tasks to the vehicles. This robust system can manage challenges, such as vehicles shutting down or operating in zones without cellular coverage, while maintaining secure communication throughout.
