Prof. Yossi Matias is VP Engineering & Research at Google and the founding Managing Director of Google Center in Israel, which grew to over 1600 on staff. He serves as the global lead of Googles Health AI, the global lead of Googles Crisis Response initiative (providing AI-based actionable information), serves on Googles Sustainability board, and as a founding lead of Googles AI for Social Good initiative. For over a decade, he was on the leadership team of Googles Search, building and leading efforts including Google Trends, Google Autocomplete, Search vertical experiences, and Search Console. He is on the board of IATI, and Chair of its Multi-National Companies Forum. He is the founding exec lead of Google for Startup Campus Tel Aviv, of Mind the Gap, and of the global Google for Startups Accelerator. In addition, he is on the Computer Science faculty at Tel Aviv University, and previously a Research Scientist at Bell Labs and visiting professor at Stanford. He published over 100 papers and is the inventor of over 60 patents. He is a recipient of the 2005 Godel Prize, an 2009 ACM Fellow, and a recipient of the 2019 ACM Kanellakis Theory and Practice Award for seminal work on the foundations of streaming algorithms and their application to large-scale data analytics.
