About
DistanSea develops seawater treatment systems designed to extend the survival and freshness of live seafood during transport and storage. Its core technology, the patented Ammonia Removal Treatment (ART), removes ammonia excreted by live animals such as lobsters, crabs, oysters, and clams, which helps maintain water quality and reduce mortality. Depending on the system used, seafood can be kept in good condition for periods ranging from several days to up to 45 days. The company offers different ART configurations, including the Easy ART unit for short-term use in existing tanks or containers, and the Pro ART system, which provides a more comprehensive water treatment process that also controls microorganisms, pH, oxygen, CO₂, and temperature. These systems can be applied throughout the seafood supply chain, from harvesting to distribution, and are intended to reduce losses, improve transport efficiency, and lower costs.
