Fosun International Ltd is the largest privately owned conglomerate in China. Fosun's business operations cover five segments including pharmaceuticals; property development; steel; mining; and retail, services, and strategic investments. Fosun Pharmaceuticals, a subsidiary of the company, has development and manufacturing services focusing on generics, biosimilars, diagnostics, and healthcare services. Fosun's activities in Israel relied on the development and manufacturing activities of the Israeli companies acquired by the conglomerate. In 2013, Fosun Pharmaceuticals purchased Alma Laser, a maker of medical laser devices. In 2016, the group acquired the Israeli skin care company Ahava. Fosun also invests in Israeli health startups. In 2014, Fosun Pharmaceuticals participated in a funding round for Check-Cap.
