Harmonic provides video delivery solutions to broadcast, cable, satellite, internet, mobile, and telecommunications video service providers worldwide. In 1994, the company established a subsidiary in Israel in order to develop technologies and products for digital video communication systems. The company received a grant from the BIRD Foundation, a joint U.S.-Israel program to foster research and development activities beneficial to both countries. In 2008, the company acquired the Israeli company Scopus Video Networks and renamed it HarmonicVideo Networks Ltd.This acquisition extended Harmonic's worldwide customer base and strengthened its market and technology leadership, particularly in international video broadcast, contribution, and distribution markets. Today, the Israeli center focuses on the video and cable access business segments, including research and development, product development, product management, supply chain management for certain product lines and sales activities.
