NayamWings is developing a novel wind propulsion system for maritime vessels based on a rigid wing sail. The unique maneuverability of the system (patent in process) enables the use of an asymmetric airfoil wing with exceptional propulsive performance. The companys target markets are shipping companies, shipping operator companies, and ship builders.
The Nayam system is fully autonomic and adjusts itself to any wind condition to gain maximum thrust. The system controls the heeling moment generated by all wind propulsion systems (WPS). The wing system consumes almost no energy, and it can lower wings and masts when traveling under bridges, entering harbors, and sailing in extreme weather conditions.
The Nayam system promotes emissions reduction as regulated by the International Maritime Organization, and it targets the EUs Fit for 55 plan for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The companys product will reduce fuel consumption and associated pollution by an overall estimated average of 15% to 25% without changing the ships planned speed. In certain routes, significantly more savings can be achieved.
