About
PlantyFuel is an Israeli ClimateTech company developing technology to produce advanced low-carbon biofuels from agricultural and forestry waste. The company was founded in 2025 by Dr. Gilad Alfassi, Prof. Yachin Cohen, and Yoav Nahmias, in collaboration with Net-Zero Tech Ventures, and is based on proprietary technology originating from research at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
PlantyFuel’s core innovation lies in the cost-effective conversion of lignocellulosic biomass - plant residues such as straw, stover, and wood chips - into renewable Gen-2 ethanol. This approach addresses two critical climate challenges: creating a scalable, low-carbon biofuel source compatible with existing global infrastructure and regulation and applicable to hard-to-abate sectors such as aviation (via Alcohol-to-Jet SAF), maritime transport, heavy mobility, as well as clean power generation; while simultaneously unlocking the vast, underutilized potential of agricultural and forestry residues by transforming a major emissions source into a circular, reliable feedstock for clean energy.
In addition to renewable fuel, PlantyFuel’s process generates valuable co-products that enhance both environmental and economic sustainability: premium lignin for advanced materials and green chemistry, carbon mineralization for durable CDR, and purified CO₂ that can be sequestered or reused in additional green applications.
Through this integrated technology, PlantyFuel connects renewable fuel production, waste valorization, and sustainable biomaterials - unlocking a practical, scalable pathway toward a circular, low-carbon economy.
