Rewind is developing a carbon dioxide removal (CDR) method involving the storage of biomass in the 2km deep, anoxic waters of the Black Sea. Their approach includes a comprehensive measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) system. This system aims to facilitate the transformation of residual biomass into sequestered organic carbon by farmers, forest managers, and shipping companies, supported by carbon removal credits.
The MRV system developed by Rewind is based on biogeochemical science and is designed to ensure additionality, permanence, and accurate measurement of carbon sequestration, with a focus on end-to-end sustainability. This method offers a new strategy for carbon capture and environmental sustainability.
