Sky and Space Global (SAS) aims to provide nanosatellite communication coverage on an anywhere-to-everywhere basis with relatively low maintenance costs. The company's satellites are carefully placed in synchronized orbits, circling the earth almost every 90 minutes. They communicate between each other and beam down to Earth in a circular footprint, creating a mesh in the sky where each satellite serves as both a base station and a router. The network operates in the S-band frequency range for very small devices with a patch antenna (8 centimeters) or monopole antenna and low power consumption. The SAS network is a narrow-band communication network suitable for the Internet of Things, machine-to-machine, personal voice, and messaging functions. SAS was the winner of the Global Excellence Award 2017 and the Frost & Sullivan Innovation Award 2016, and was named People's NewSpace Company 2016. Following the launch of its first three satellites, SAS plans to launch 200 satellites, providing coverage to the equator and beyond.
