Agate Medical Investments LP is a group of funds specializing in providing growth capital to mature medtech companies. The fund focuses primarily on select mature companies that are seeking or could benefit from a final round or buyout financing to maximize their exit-value potential, and for whom a clear exit strategy has been mapped out and validated by the fund managers. Agate has an established position in the healthcare VC industry, resulting in quality deal flow and investor partnerships. Agates bi-national Israeli-Korean fund was established in February 2012, in partnership with the MAC fund, for Korea-Israel medtech investments.

What's happening at Agate Medical

Valeritas, a company that has developed a mechanical pump for delivering insulin to type 2 diabetes patients, has raised $100 million in a venture lending round. The round was participated by the companys existing investors, including Pitango Venture Capital and Agate Medical Investments. The company plans to use the funds to reach a Nasdaq IPO in the next two years. Valeritas has already received sales approval in the US and has sales of $2 million. The product is covered by insurance companies for 70% of Americans. The company believes that the current round will be enough for it to become one of the largest ever biomed flotations.
