Cielo specializes in fiber-optic gyroscopes (FOG), inertial measurement units, and inertial navigation systems. The company is also a major supplier in Israel for closed-loop FOG sensors used in a wide variety of navigation and control applications. All of Cielo's products are in full compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations. The company was acquired by Aeronautics in 2007 and has been equally owned by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Kearfott Corporation of America since 2014.

UAV maker Aeronautics buys Al Cielo for $20m

UAV maker Aeronautics Defense Systems has acquired Al Cielo for $20 million. Al Cielo is the reincarnation of Chiaro Networks, which raised $224 million before folding. Al Cielo is developing a high-performance Fiber Optical Gyro. The sole investor in Al Cielo is Efi Gildor, one of the first investors in Chiaro. Chiaros previous investors decided to close down the company. Aeronautics Defense Systems is a private manufacturer of tactical UAVs with over $50 million in annual sales.
