Pontifax AgTech Closes $302M Food and Agriculture Technology Fund
Pontifax AgTech Management has closed its second fund, Pontifax Global Food and Agriculture Technology Fund II, with commitments totaling $302m. The fund received commitments from institutional investors, including financial institutions, state pension funds, university endowments, foundations, investment firms, large-scale growers, and family offices. Pontifax AgTech invests globally in established businesses with proven technologies that improve the productivity, sustainability, and efficiency of the food and agriculture supply chain. The funds inaugural investment was in Provivi, a company that develops biological crop protection technology. Pontifax AgTechs first fund, closed in October 2017, has already monetized two investments through the sale of Blue River Technology and the IPO of Precision Biosciences.

Pontifax Raises $50M For Its AgriTech Fund
Israeli life sciences venture capital firm Pontifax has raised $50 million for its first fund in food and agriculture technologies. Pontifax specializes in pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical devices investments. The firm currently manages $445 million in four funds and has invested in over 40 companies. Two of its portfolio companies, ReWalk and CCAM Biotherapeutics, have recently exited. ReWalk now trades on the Nasdaq with a market cap of $125.17 million, while CCAM Biotherapeutics was acquired by Merck. Pontifaxs first two funds have achieved impressive annual returns of 48% and 31% respectively.
