Mekorot, Aquate Group in landmark deal
Mekorot, the national water company, has signed a commercial agreement with Aquate Group to promote reservoir enhancement and increase water availability and alternative energy production. The agreement involves leasing a reservoir area to Aquate Group for 20 years, with Aquate bearing the operations and maintenance costs. The project is estimated to have a socio-economic value of $45 million to Israels national economy. This deal is the first of its kind for sustainable development of renewable water and energy sources at the national level. The agreement is expected to be the first in a series of agreements between the parties to enhance all national and privately owned reservoirs.

Aquate Group Ltd. has signed a NIS 300-million deal with Hevrat Moshve Hanegev to provide reservoir enhancement services. The partnership will generate an additional 900,000 cubic meters of water by preventing evaporation and improving water quality. The floating covers used by Aquate also incorporate photovoltaic solar panels, generating 16 MW of clean energy. This is Aquates first entry into the Israeli market, with more agreements expected throughout the year. The company aims to increase natural resources sustainably and support agricultural production in Israel. The partnership with Hevrat Moshve Hanegev will enhance the capacity of reservoirs for agriculture without interfering with their operation.
