Avtech Scientific Overview

Eurofins Avtech Laboratories Inc, formerly Avtech Scientific, develops and commercializes numerical modeling and simulation software products and services for industries and institutions that rely on scientific innovation to achieve a competitive advantage. The success of the companys numerical models is driven by the Avtech Scientific Library (ASL), which is written on C++ and OpenCL, enabling deployment of the companys applications on a variety of massively parallel architectures ranging from inexpensive GPUs up to heterogeneous supercomputers. Avtech Labs was acquired by Eurofins Scientific, a worldwide network of medical labs based in Luxembourg, with branches in the U.S. and elsewhere.

Hungarian bug-hunters spot 130,000 vulnerable Avtech vid systems on Shodan

Avtechs IP cameras and video recorders have been found to have multiple security vulnerabilities, including plain text passwords and remote accessibility without authentication. Around 130,000 vulnerable devices are searchable on Shodan. The bugs have not been fixed, so users are advised to change their admin passwords and disconnect the devices from the Internet. The researchers who discovered the vulnerabilities tried to contact Avtech in October 2015 and May 2016 but received no response.
