Balderton Capital, a London-based venture capital firm, has raised $1.3 billion across two funds. The Early Stage Fund IX will receive $615 million, and the Growth Fund II will get $685 million. The fundraise was completed faster than previous ones, with about 80% of existing LPs reupping. The firm has made 12 new investments in the past year. Despite its Europe-only focus, Balderton has missed out on investing in foundational AI startups from Silicon Valley. The firms strategy is to invest in companies that use AI technology to solve specific problems.
