Israeli startup Beyeonics is developing a heads-up operating room system that uses head-mounted displays and augmented reality to assist surgeons during procedures. The company, which was spun off from defense contractor Elbit, has raised $60 million in funding and has 90 employees. Its first product, Beyeonics One, is designed for ophthalmic surgeons and allows for magnification, image control, and access to additional information. The system aims to improve surgical outcomes and reduce surgeon fatigue. Beyeonics has partnered with BVI Medical to commercialize its product in the United States.

Beyeonics, a Haifa-based start-up, showcased its visualisation solution at the Floretina Meeting, a major European conference for retinal surgeons. The companys technology was used in two live surgeries to correct retinal detachment, broadcast from Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv. Beyeonics solution combines augmented reality, 3D imaging and AI-based data processing to provide surgeons with real-time visual information. The company recently signed a commercial agreement with BVI Medical, one of the worlds largest eye care equipment companies, to market its system in the US. Beyeonics recently raised $36 million for further development and distribution.

Elbit Systems medical device Beyeonics spinoff raises $36m
Elbit Systems Ltd.s spinoffs, Beyeonics Surgical and Beyeonics Vision, have completed a $36 million financing round. The investment will enable the companies to expand product development, include additional surgical applications, and accelerate commercialization. Beyeonics Surgical and Beyeonics Vision aim to interface the systems in operating rooms using augmented reality, tracking, and image processing/AI platforms to provide surgeons with valuable information and decision guidance. Elbit Systems is now a minority shareholder in both companies.
