Biotechnology General (BTG), an Israeli-based company, has launched a production line that increases the capacity of mammalian drug production. The investment for the production line was $17 million. Ferring Pharmaceuticals, BTGs parent company, provided the investment. The inauguration of the production line was attended by Ferring President Per Falk, who highlighted the importance of BTG in Ferrings goal to be a world leader in reproductive medicine and maternal health. BTG is the oldest biological pharmaceutical company in Israel and has expanded over the years to become significant in the production of genetically engineered drugs. The new production line strengthens BTGs capacity for future growth and development.

Biotech firm in Israel makes fertility waves with genetically modified hormone
Israeli biotech firm BTG has developed a new-generation fertility treatment called Rekovelle, which is a personalized hormone therapy that boosts the chances of patients seeking to get pregnant. The medication was launched by Swiss multinational pharmaceutical company Ferring, which acquired BTG in 2005. BTG genetically engineers human cell cultures to produce follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), which is used in in-vitro fertilization treatments. Ferring plans to expand production capabilities of the drug to meet market demand. BTG also develops and manufactures other medications using biological methods. The company hopes to create an ecosystem for biotech companies to thrive in Israel and become a hub for research, development, and manufacturing in the biotech industry.

Ferring invests $15m in Israeli unit Bio-Technology General
Ferring Pharmaceuticals is investing $15 million to expand biotech production capabilities at its Israeli subsidiary Bio-Technology General (BTG). The investment will support the development of new treatments in reproductive medicine and women’s health, as well as the manufacturing of the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) for Ferrings latest fertility treatment, Rekovelle. The expansion will allow Ferring to maintain its scientific leadership in the fertility field and create innovative solutions for patients. BTG, founded in 1980, is the longest-standing bio-pharmaceutical company in Israel and employs around 300 people in its plant in Beer Tuvia Industrial Park.
