CreditEase Israel Innovation Fund II Announces First Close, at over $30M - FinSMEs

CreditEase Israel Innovation Fund II has announced the first closing of its second fund dedicated to investing in Israeli tech startups, at $32.2m. The final target of the fund is $50m. The fund will focus on investing in Israel-based startups operating in sectors such as Virtual and Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Digital Healthcare, Internet of Things, Cloud and Data Storage, and Advanced Manufacturing. CreditEase is a venture capital firm that provides support to its portfolio companies and currently manages $65m in assets across two funds. The previous fund, CreditEase Israel Innovation Fund I, raised $30m in October 2015.

Chinese investors rush to embrace Israel via new fund

CreditEase China has raised $30 million for the CreditEase Israel Innovation Fund, its first Israel-focused venture-capital/private equity fund. Despite the economic troubles in China, the fund was able to attract enthusiastic investors. The fund primarily focuses on private technology companies in Israel, with opportunities in the US and UK as well. The areas of interest include technology, media, telecommunications, smart materials, and healthcare. CreditEase China has a strong following and brand loyalty in China and hopes that this fund will be a paradigm for future ventures. The investors, Tayman Kan and Benjamin Weiss, have experience investing in Israeli firms and believe that there will continue to be opportunities for Israeli tech firms to work with Chinese companies and investors in the future.
