Commerce Ventures, a venture capital firm that invests in retail and financial services technology, has raised over $150 million for its fifth fund. The fund was oversubscribed and raised nearly the same amount as the firms previous fund. The corporate investor base for Fund V increased to 20, including nine of the largest US banks and two of the countrys largest retailers. The fundraising process was more challenging this time around due to market conditions and the firms maturity. The firm also had to navigate the collapse of several regional banks, including Silicon Valley Bank, a key lender for the tech and venture capital sectors.
