EFI buys Israeli co Optitex for up to $52.8m
Electronics For Imaging, Inc. has acquired Optitex, a 3D design software company for the textile industry. The deal is worth up to $52.8 million, with an upfront cash payment of $20 million. Optitex will be integrated into EFIs Productivity Software business unit. The acquisition is expected to contribute $4 million to $6 million in revenue for the balance of 2016 and be neutral to EPS during that time. Asaf Landau, CEO of Optitex, and the approximately 100 members of the Optitex team have joined EFI, with Landau serving as EFI Optitexs general manager.

EFI buys Matan Digital Printers
Matan Digital Printers, an Israeli company that develops super-wide format printers, has been acquired by US company Electronics for Imaging (EFI) for $50 million. The acquisition will give EFI a broader range of products in the super-wide format display graphics printing market. Matan Digitals strong R&D capability will also accelerate EFIs inkjet innovation. The all-cash transaction involved EFI paying approximately $29 million to acquire all of Matans outstanding shares, assuming $5 million of Matans debt, and depositing $14 million into escrow for indemnification obligations. The acquisition is expected to provide ongoing support and innovation for Matans customers.
