Rebecca Rachmany: CEO and Creator of Purple and Nine TV Show
Rebecca Rachmany, CEO of Gangly Sisters Productions, is working on the Purple and Nine TV series to inspire kids aged 8-12 to pursue STEM-based paths. She aims to break stereotypes and reveal the full potential of younger generations. Rachmany noticed the lack of women in Computer Science programs and decided to target a younger demographic. The TV show aims to challenge the negative portrayal of geeks and show that they can be athletes, fashionistas, and more. Rachmany plans to build an online community with apps and a multiplayer online game for girls based on the characters from the show. She emphasizes the importance of constantly learning and surrounding oneself with supportive peers. Rachmany also provides advice on mentoring and inspiring girls in tech.

Girls get animated about science
Gangly Sister, a Tel Aviv start-up, is producing a cartoon web series called Purple and Nine to encourage tween girls to pursue STEM. The series debuted on January 30 and aims to release one new 5-minute episode every month. The founders of the company, Rebecca Rachmany and Miriam Lottner, were inspired to create the series after noticing a lack of female tech entrepreneurs. The first episode has already garnered 38,000 views. The company plans to continue production and translate the series into Spanish and Chinese through fundraising and an Indiegogo campaign.
