Israeli technology surfaces on Surface

Flextronics faced a problem with the casing of the Microsoft Surface tablet, but GraphiTechs technology helped solve the issue. GraphiTechs solution allowed Flextronics to receive precise values for shaving the magnesium sheets within seconds, improving production line efficiency. Flextronics eventually bought GraphiTechs solutions in a deal estimated at $3 million. The involvement of sophisticated equipment and rising labor costs in China make it necessary for electronics manufacturers to automate processes. ScanDirect, the Chinese distributor of GraphiTech, plans to integrate its products in Flextronics production lines in Latin America and Europe. ScanDirect expects to end 2013 with 600 measuring systems installed in China and grow by 50% next year.
