China's Haier Looks to Israeli Tech to Make Its Fridges Smarter, Says Exec
Haier Group Corporation, a Chinese consumer electronics company, is actively seeking Israeli startups and technologies to incorporate into its home appliances. The company has already signed agreements with Israeli companies and is currently designing a new ice bar fridge for living rooms in Tel Aviv. Haier opened an innovation center in Israel in 2017 to find local innovations in sensor technology, chips, IoT, and energy. The Israeli center refers the technology to Haiers R&D headquarters in China for final approval. Despite recent government regulations on foreign investments in Israel, Haier is confident that its activities in Israel will not be affected. The information was shared by Yifeng (Yael) Zhou, Haier Israels director of business development, during an interview at a business summit in Tel Aviv.
