To meet its objectives in the civilian defense tech space, Horizon Capital’s fund-of-funds approach mandates targeted allocations to specialized fund managers who are focused on advancing technologies across the fourteen critical areas prioritized by the Department of Defense of the United States. Horizon Capital will focus on its Defense Tech Growth fund to invest in Israeli venture capital firms dedicated to early-stage defense and aerospace technology startups in Israel. By targeting these specialized VCs, Horizon Capital aims to support Israeli innovations that align with its investment thesis, while facilitating their entry and expansion into the U.S. market. Alongside the venture capital funds, Horizon Capital will selectively co-invest directly in some of its VC's portfolio startups, providing additional resources and strategic support to help these companies navigate the U.S. defense sector, where their technologies can address pressing defense and security needs. Horizon Capital will pursue co-investments in high-performing companies for follow-on investments in areas such as autonomy, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, aerospace, energy warfare, homeland security, and drone defense technology, suitable for dual-use applications to serve both defense and civilian commercial markets.
