Hyperspace, a company that uses domain-specific computing to accelerate database tasks, has raised $9.5 million in seed funding. The companys instances, which use a combination of FPGAs and GPUs, can deliver up to 10 times faster searches than traditional databases. Hyperspaces databases can handle various types of structured and unstructured data, including videos, images and text. The company has already signed deals with enterprises in the fraud prevention and e-commerce spaces, including Forter, nSure and Renovai. The funding will be used to scale up Hyperspaces database offering and launch a free, entry-level plan.
