Light Polymers Receives BIRD Foundation Grant
Light Polymers, a Santa Clara-based company, has received a grant from the U.S.-Israel Binational Industrial Research and Development (BIRD) Foundation to develop its liquid crystal polarizing technology. The company will collaborate with Israel-based Hypervision to develop a polarized coating technology for VR and MR optics. The grant will support the development of thin-films to reduce the thickness of VR/MR optics, enhance image sharpness, and reduce manufacturing costs. The collaboration began in 2024 and is expected to continue for the next two years.

Hypervision Ltd joins OPTIMAL - EU consortium focusing on laser lithography and advanced manufacturing.
Optical technology company Hypervision has announced a strategic partnership with European VR companies Somnium Spaces, Vrgineers, and Lynx Mixed Reality. The partnership follows a successful investment round in Hypervision, in which the three companies, along with the Israel Innovation Authority, participated. The partnership aims to bring Hypervisions innovative optical technology to the market. Hypervision has been developing optical technology for VR/XR headsets since 2021, focusing on reducing form factor and expanding the field of view within compact headsets. The company recently unveiled its second-generation HO140 pancake lens, which offers a wide field of view and maintains a compact form factor.
