Hyundai Inaugurates Israeli Innovation Hub
Hyundai Motor Companys director, John Suh, announced the inauguration of the automakers innovation hub in Tel Aviv, Israel. The company is working to integrate Israeli technologies into autonomous vehicles set to be launched in 2021. Hyundai has already invested in four local companies and two Israeli venture capital funds to gain insight into local knowledge and technologies. The innovation hub initially focuses on investment and strategic collaboration with local startups. Hyundai also announced collaborations with Israels Technion university and Koreas Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) for research in autonomous vehicles, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. In July, Hyundai invested in autonomous driving communication chipsets developer Autotalks Ltd. Hyundai is cautious about self-driving cars and will not launch an autonomous car until it reaches the highest level of safety.

The company plans to tap into new markets and technologies both externally and internally to drive growth and innovation. Hyundai Motor Group has also announced plans to establish an Open Innovation Center in Israel to research future technologies.
