Bucharest Polytechnic University tests system that could detect earthquakes at least four hours in advance
Israeli company Ionoterra has developed a system that can detect earthquakes at least four hours in advance. The system will be tested by the Bucharest Polytechnic University (UPB) in Romanias Vrancea region, one of the most active seismic areas in Europe. Ionoterra has already carried out initial tests in Turkey and Greece with a high success rate. The company claims that it can issue earthquake warnings eight hours before they occur. Ionoterra has offered Romania a first non-commercial demonstration session, making it the first beneficiary of the forecasts.

הסטארט-אפ הישראלי שיודע לחזות מתי תתרחש רעידת אדמה ובאיזו עוצמה
Israeli start-up Ionoterra has developed a technology that can predict earthquakes up to 11 hours in advance. The technology is based on a detection system that can be easily and more flexibly deployed than existing solutions. The company was founded by brothers Doron and Avi Engelovitz, in partnership with Prof. Nathan Blaunstein, a physicist and radio wave expert. Ionoterras technology could potentially save lives by allowing countries to prepare for the evacuation of densely populated areas and significantly reduce the number of casualties.
