Israel Innovation Authority Overview

The Israel Innovation Authority (IIA) is the support arm of the Israeli government, charged with fostering the development of industrial research and development in the State of Israel. Until 2016, the IIA was known as the Office of the Chief Scientist (OCS) of Israel's Ministry of Economy.

Early-stage startups facing extreme difficulty raising funds, says Israel Innovation Authority

A survey by the Israel Innovation Authority reveals that over 50% of early-stage Israeli startups have less than a 6-month cash reserve, and about 56% fear they wont secure another round of financing. The survey also highlights three primary challenges: obtaining financing, recruiting customers, and dealing with local uncertainty. Despite this, only 12% of companies foresee closing or selling at a loss in the next year, while approximately 64% believe their companies will experience growth. Early-stage high-tech employment in Israel is expected to increase by around 9% in the coming year, with most growth occurring in small companies.

He presented a survey of 500 early-stage tech companies, over 50% of which stated they have a survival horizon of less than six months. Furthermore, around 60% of all companies surveyed believe their chances of raising funds are low or very low. Bin also highlighted the decrease in the number of start-ups being established each year, and the dependence on foreign investment, which makes up 75% of all venture capital investments in Israel.
