CoaXPress 2.0, a standard for high-speed imaging technology, was officially introduced in 2019 after being previewed at VISION 2018 in Stuttgart, Germany. The new standard offers an extension of the Japan Industrial Imaging Association’s CoaXPress standard, which was first introduced in 2011. CoaXPress 2.0 offers new features, functionalities, and speed ranges above the previous limit of 6.25 Gbps to speeds of 10 and 12.5 Gbps. The standard also increases the up-connection bitrate from host to device from 20.83 Mbps to 41.6 Mbps for CXP-10 and CXP-12.

PLDA and KAYA Instruments have partnered to create a platform that enables companies to implement custom CoaXPress products in their systems. The platform combines PLDA’s XpressK7 PCI Express prototyping board with KAYA Instrument’s CoaXPress FPGA mezzanine card (FMC).
