LDS Overview

Lyotropic Delivery Systems (LDS) is a biotechnology company focusing on the development of drug delivery based on liquid nano-sized delivery systems. LDS's proprietary technology enables solubilizing large loads of poorly absorbed macromolecules, enhancing their transport across the gastrointestinal wall to the bloodstream without modifying the therapeutic compounds. This approach is based on the formation of modified soft and fluid gel mesophases with characteristics between a liquid and a crystal. The mesophases are composed of water nano-channels packed in unique symmetries, which are thermodynamically stable at various temperatures, resulting in long shelf life. LDS's portfolio comprises a range of projects including oral, ocular, and transdermal applications. The company's technology creates new uses for generic or innovative drugs, by using safe-to-use components, which are all categorized as generally recognized as safe and/or are listed within the FDA Inactive Ingredient Guide database.

LDS wins medical cannabis marketing deal

Israeli drug delivery company LDS Biotech has signed an agreement with US distributor Ananda to use its technology as the basis for a medical cannabis product. Ananda estimates that its annual revenue will exceed $10 million, with a percentage given to LDS. LDSs technology allows for the extraction of the CBD component from the cannabis plant, producing a drug that can be taken orally. The CBD component is recognized for its potential in treating pain, inflammation, autism, and epilepsy. LDS has already generated $2.5 million in revenue from agreements with major pharmaceutical firms. The CBD product marketed by Ananda is expected to be the first based on LDSs technology to reach the market.
