Israeli company turns old rubber back into... rubber
Israeli company Levgum has developed a patented process to turn vulcanized rubber back into its principle components for reuse. The company licenses its technology to other companies and industries, with one licensee in America selling rubber mulch for the garden at Wal-Mart. Levgum has seven licensees worldwide and recycles thousands of tons of rubber every year. The company has recently formed a joint R&D deal with Goodyear to ensure the recycled compound is suitable for their use.

U.S. processor keen on Israeli rubber recycling technology
Softstone, Inc., a tire recycling company, has invested in Levgum, Inc., an Israeli startup that has developed a new technology to de-vulcanize rubber. Softstone plans to use this technology to create higher-value products and reduce the cost of producing tires. The company has purchased a 10 percent ownership stake in Levgum for $250,000 and has secured licensing and sublicensing rights to the Western Hemisphere for the de-vulcanization technology. Softstone aims to capture 5 to 10 percent of the tire recycling market in the Western Hemisphere and is negotiating deals to sublicense the technology to operators in Canada, Mexico, and South America. The partnership with Levgum highlights the value of doing business with Israeli companies.
