$100 million Russian fund Maxfield Capital invests in Java application hosting platform Jelastic
Jelastic, a cloud-based hosting platform for Java application developers, has secured an investment from Maxfield Capital, a $100 million Russian venture fund. The company has also appointed John E. Derrick as its new CEO. Jelastic offers a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) that automatically scales Java or PHP applications without requiring code changes. The startup is currently partnering with 21 web hosting providers and plans to use the investment to boost R&D, sales operations, and global growth. Maxfield Capitals investment in Jelastic amounted to more than $1 million. Jelastic is a resident of the IT cluster of Skolkovo, an international tech hub in Moscow. Maxfield Capital focuses on early stage and seed stage investments and is considering opportunities in Russia, USA, Israel, and Europe.
