Microchip Overview

Microchip Technology Inc. manufactures microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP integrated circuits. Its products include microcontrollers (PIC, dsPIC, AVR and SAM), Serial EEPROM devices, Serial SRAM devices, embedded security devices, radio frequency (RF) devices, thermal, power and battery management analog devices, as well as linear, interface and wireless products Microchip Israel consists of three Business Units (BUs) with 100 employees in R&D, marketing, operations, finance, sales and applications, IT and HR. The Power over Ethernet (PoE) BU is a global pioneer in the development of PoE technology. The team develops and markets sophisticated solutions that enable the transfer of combined power, data and Voice over IP (VoIP) over data communication networks. The DCS NVRAM Solutions R&D group in Israel is part of the Data Center Solutions (DCS) division, developing data center and enterprise products for the information storage world with the division’s Flash controllers. These Flash controllers are at the heart of the division’s ASIC and firmware development. The DCS group develops boards for NVRAM solutions and RAID adapters, Host Bus Adapter (HBA) and SmartHBA solutions. The Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) sales and applications team promotes all Microchip products/solutions to the Israeli high-tech industry, either directly to the end customer or through our distributors, start-ups and international design centers such as Intel®, Apple, NVIDIA and many others.

Microchip Technology Acquires Neuronix AI Labs

Microchip Technology has acquired Neuronix AI Labs to expand its capabilities for power-efficient, AI-enabled edge solutions deployed on field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). Neuronix AI Labs provides neural network sparsity optimization technology that enables a reduction in power, size and calculations for tasks such as image classification, object detection and semantic segmentation, while maintaining high accuracy. The acquisition will enable Microchip to develop cost-effective, large-scale edge deployments of components designed for use in computer-vision applications on systems that have cost, size and power constraints and enable a multifold increase in AI/ML processing horsepower on low and mid-range FPGAs.
