Underway Hull Cleaning Boosts Efficiency Without Schedule Disruption
Israeli startup NakAI Robotics has developed a robotic system for hull cleaning and inspection. The system is designed to remove early-stage biofouling from the hull while the ship is in transit, reducing fuel consumption and complying with regulatory requirements. NakAIs solution offers shipowners and operators a practical way to operate with a continuously clean hull. The company has already cleaned its first cargo vessel in Israel and is receiving considerable interest from shipowners in the Mediterranean and beyond. NakAI aims to have a commercial ready system available in the second half of 2023. The system also includes class-approved inspection sensors to detect maintenance issues.
