Israel's Novel Technology Gives New Hope for Coronavirus Patients With Leading Cause of Mortality
Researchers from the Israeli Technion have developed an innovative technology to treat severe COVID-19 patients with Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (ARDS). The technology, called Liquid Foam Therapy (LIFT), improves the distribution of surfactant in the lungs and has shown promising results in animal models. The team is now working on constructing a delivery device and plans to conduct preclinical studies in pigs. If successful, the therapy will undergo clinical trials and will be licensed to a newly founded start-up company called Neshima Medical. The development of this treatment could have a positive impact on the Technions growth.

חוקרים בטכניון פיתחו טכנולוגיה שעשויה להציל חולי קורונה קשים
Researchers at the Technion have developed a new technology that significantly improves the effectiveness of existing drugs in treating respiratory diseases, including severe COVID-19 cases. The technology, called Liquid Foam Therapy, enhances the dispersion of surfactant in the lungs, allowing for better distribution and improved respiratory function. The researchers have conducted successful laboratory experiments on pigs and are now working towards completing the development of the medical device and conducting pre-clinical trials. If successful, clinical trials in humans will follow. The technology has also garnered interest from China, where similar experiments will be conducted. The Technions innovation has the potential to save lives and reduce mortality rates from COVID-19.
