Neuronix AI Labs aims to reduce computer-vision AI cost and power consumption by more than 95% by making large-scale cloud and edge deployments cost effective and enabling computer-vision applications on end-devices with limited compute or battery power. The solution is offered as a core intellectual property that can be incorporated into next-generation silicon or run on existing hardware accelerators (FPGAs) both on premises and in the cloud. Neuronix has a prototype on AWS that demonstrates the technology's benefits and is working with top compute technology and cloud companies on integrating the technology into their offerings. The company recently graduated from Alchemist's six-month program.

Microchip Technology Acquires Neuronix AI Labs

Microchip Technology has acquired Neuronix AI Labs to enhance its capabilities for power-efficient, AI-enabled edge solutions deployed on field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs). Neuronix AI Labs provides neural network sparsity optimization technology that enables a reduction in power, size and calculations for tasks such as image classification, object detection and semantic segmentation, while maintaining high accuracy. The acquisition will allow Microchip to develop cost-effective, large-scale edge deployments of components designed for use in computer-vision applications on systems that have cost, size and power constraints.
