NewMoo Creates Casein in Plants for Crafting Moo-Free Cheese

Food-tech startup NewMoo, Ltd. has unveiled a new method of producing casein proteins for cheese using plant molecular farming (PMF), offering a cost-effective, animal-free, and sustainable alternative to traditional dairy cheese. The companys technology, developed over three years, allows for the expression of two or more caseins within a single plant, which can then be harvested and processed into a liquid casein base. The base can replace dairy milk in any dairy cheese manufacturing facility without the need for special equipment. NewMoo has raised $7 million in seed funding led by Lool and Zora Ventures.
