Israeli software firm Orcanos eyes drug sector to boost growth
Israel-based Orcanos, a software company, predicts its sales will grow by 25 to 30 percent annually as it expands into new markets and regions. The company, which serves medical device makers, is seeking to expand into the pharmaceutical sector. Orcanos is in talks with a large vendor in Asia and is seeking to raise $6 million from venture capital funds specializing in medical devices. The companys customers include Mazor Robotics, Lumenis, Given Imaging, LifeWatch, Intel, and Siemens Mobility UK. Orcanos has joined forces with Comply to sell services to pharmaceutical companies and hopes to begin selling directly to the industry within two years. Orcanos competes with giants like Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM, but its advantage is that its product can be tailor-made to meet the medical device industrys needs.
