PolyHeal Overview

PolyHeal is an advanced medical device company that utilizes its microsphere-based wound-care technology to develop active wound-healing products for chronic skin ulcers, burns, trauma, and post-surgery wounds. PolyHeals patented wound-management technology uses chemically inert, non-biodegradable, charged synthetic microspheres to initiate and promote the wound-healing process, without the addition of any pharmacologically active agents. PolyHeal is approved as a CE marked class IIb medical device in the European Union, Russia, and Israel. The company has signed a cooperation agreement with Spanish company Praxis, which specializes in marketing orphan drugs. PolyHeal was acquired by Mediwound in 2010, and in 2015 Clal Biotechnology Industries Ltd owned a 47% stake in PolyHeal.

Tel Aviv District Court Ordered MediWound to Purchase Approximately $1.5 Million of PolyHeal Shares;MediWound Weighing an Appeal

MediWound Ltd., a biopharmaceutical company, has been ordered by the Tel Aviv District Court to purchase shares of three shareholders of PolyHeal Ltd. for approximately $1.5 million. This follows a claim made by the PolyHeal shareholders. In 2010, MediWound had entered into agreements with Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. and PolyHeal to collaborate in the development, manufacturing and commercialization of PolyHeal’s wound product. As part of the agreement, Teva made investments in MediWound’s ordinary shares and agreed to fund MediWound’s research and development expenses. However, a milestone investment from Teva has not been received by MediWound.

Polyheal signs licensing deal with Praxis

Polyheal, a wound treatment company, has signed a cooperation agreement with Praxis, a Spanish company specializing in marketing orphan drugs. Praxis will manufacture and market Polyheals products and pay royalties to the Israeli company. The deal includes no advance payment or payments for milestones. The announcement of the agreement caused a 4.5% increase in Clal Biotechnologys share price. Polyheals leading product, Polyheal2, is awaiting approval for marketing in Europe. The wound healing market is worth billions of dollars, and the companies estimate the market potential at $100 million. Polyheals revenue could amount to several million dollars a year. Polyheal was formerly a subsidiary of MediWound and merged with them in 2010.
