Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is the sovereign wealth fund of the State of Qatar. QIA was established in 2005 to protect and grow Qatar’s financial assets and to diversify the economy.​ As a sovereign wealth fund, QIA’s purpose is to generate returns for their future stakeholders. Qatar plots a $1B pipeline to VCs | TechCrunch

The Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) is launching a $1 billion venture capital fund of funds to attract international and regional venture capital funds and startups to Qatar and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council region. The initiative will invest indirectly through other VC funds and also make targeted co-investments. The move is aimed at bolstering the number of startups and enhancing the availability of VC funding within Qatar. The QIAs fund of funds is exclusively focused on venture capital funds, marking the first of its kind in the region.
