Red Hat Inc. has announced its acquisition of Israeli virtualization start-up Qumranet Inc. for $107 million. This acquisition will make Red Hat a market leader in virtualization and Qumranet will become Red Hats R&D center in Israel. Qumranets Solid ICE platform enables enterprises to host desktops in KVM virtual machines on servers in the corporate data center. Red Hat and Qumranet have been collaborating for a few months and this acquisition will boost Qumranets market share and allow Red Hat to enter a new market.
